Yarn dyeing in Iran is considered an art in danger while artists involved in the field level their best to revive it to perfection

Farhad Yadegari whose hands do magic with colors has been in the business of yarn dyeing for 40 years now.

Yadegari has his own workshop at the heart of Zanjan Traditional Bazar in Iran. He says this art is dying. There used to be around fifty yarn dyeing workshops in Zanjan, the number reduced to a handful, he says. Yet he feels satiated and life is nothing but beautiful to him.

The elegance of the art of yarn dyeing is manifested in the carpet weaving industry. The artists of this business have done a great job in fabricating a variety of colors, which has had a big share in the fame of Iranian carpet. The hard work on the part of men in this industry has resulted in enduring and amazing colors and that is why Iranian carpet is second to none.

Iranians use a special method to dye wool yarn for fabrics and Persian carpets.
